The concept of each Synod having its own Youth Executive originally came from General Assembly, the national meeting of the United Reformed Church. Youth Executive was started in Wessex Synod at March Synod Youth Day 2006 and the first members of the Wessex Synod Youth Executive were elected to serve for a 2 year period.* The Youth Executive consists of ten young people, aged 14 – 25, who meet three times a year (usually residentially) to discuss ideas and plan events that are relevant to the young people in Wessex Synod. The main aim is to give a voice to all the children and young people in Wessex Synod, and to have fun! Elections for new members take place at every March Synod Youth Day, and anyone is welcome to stand for the positions. After those standing to serve on the Youth Exec have introduced themselves, the rest of the young people at the Synod Youth Day vote. While serving on the Youth Exec, every member receives support from the two CYDOs, and also receives any appropriate training to assist them in fulfilling their role. This means that no prior experience is necessary! For more details, or if you think that you would be able to bring something to the Exec, please contact either Ruth White (CYDO South), Phil Ray (CYDO North) by email.
