‘Le Weekend’ (link to page 3) has replaced the ‘Colloque’ as the annual meeting of our two churches.

Le Weekend
Until 2007, the two Synods had arranged an annual meeting, known as the ‘Colloque’, for members of both churches, the venue alternating between France and England. This arrangement has been modified in order to appeal to a wider audience and, in particular, to enable non-French speaking people to participate.
The first ‘Le Weekend’ was held at High Post, Camberley in April 2009, with the theme ‘Makiong Mission Real’. Over 20 people in total attended the event which included workshops, discussions, visits to two local URCs, and Sunday worship. The overall view was that it had bben an enjoyable and stimulating weekend and had succeeded in making it available to anyone who wanted to participate, irrespective of language ability.
In April 2010, 17 people attended ‘Le Weekend’ held at Luneray, near Dieppe, some of whom were from outside our Synod. The theme of the weekend was ‘My Prayer Life’ and included several workshops as well as fun events. There were also families from churches in the Nord Normandie Synod there too and this added to the ‘church family’ feel of the whole weekend.
The highlight of the weekend was Sunday morning worship conducted in French and English in a way in which everyone felt involved.
We’re waiting for French school holiday dates for 2011 before we fix a date but next year’s ‘Le weekend’ is likely to be in April 2011.
