Church Life Fund Committee

We are looking for someone who is willing to serve on the Church Life Fund Committee as our Synod Representative.

For those of you that have read the papers from the extraordinary General Assembly, you will know that there is a large remit for this committee and they are looking for people from different backgrounds with differing skills.

Below is a message from the Nominations Committee, and we have attached the link for the draft Terms of Reference, a Role Description, Person Specification, and Representative Form to be returned back to the Clerk at clerk@urcwessex.org.uk by the 29th January please so that names can be brought to our Synod Executive meeting on the 31st January. As agreed at the Extraordinary General Assembly, the Committee will have one nominated representative from every synod, along with a Convenor and two cross-members from URC Trust. Once the committee is in place, the Church Life Fund can receive donations and funding streams (shared services, lay worker grants, and new community grants) can commence.

The Church Life Fund Committee’s remit will be wide-ranging and complex. We will therefore need to ensure a diversity of skills and knowledge on the committee, including financial expertise, employment law, URC ecclesiology, church community development, service provision (HR, IT, payroll, accounting, etc), and charity grant-making. Once Nominations Committee have received notification of all thirteen synod representatives, work will be undertaken to ensure appropriate diversity of skills, as well as diversity of membership, in line with the URC’s commitment to equality, diversity, and inclusion.
