On Remembrance Sunday, 9th November, four Memorial Benches were unveiled at High Cross, in the garden area in front of the building. The gift of these benches, which had taken a year to bring about, was arranged through members of the Camberley branch of the Royal British Legion. The members and guests, including the Mayor of Surrey Heath, were present. Our Minister, Mike Thomason, himself a former Army Chaplain, blessed the benches. Two of the benches are in memory of a former Chairman and a former President of Camberley Branch. Of the other two benches, one is for the Gurkhas whose military home is in this part of Surrey and today also home many retired Ghurkhas and their families. The other bench is to remember those who have served in the armed forces and serve today, maintaining our freedom.
